State Profiles: Medicare-Medicaid Enrollees
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has constructed state and national profiles that examine the demographic characteristics, service utilization, condition prevalence and spending patterns of Medicare-Medicaid enrollees and the programs that serve them in each state. These profiles are available for calendar years 2007 and 2008.
The 2007 and 2008 profiles used different data sources and methodologies for identifying Medicare-Medicaid enrollees. For this reason, there may be slight variations in the results presented in the two sets of profiles. The 2008 profiles used the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) monthly operational data on Medicare-enrollment that state Medicaid agencies submit to CMS that more accurately identify Medicare-Medicaid enrollees.
For more information on defining Medicare-Medicaid enrollees via the MMA files see Defining Medicare-Medicaid Enrollees in CMS Data Sources. For more information about the methodology used to create the 2007 profiles, see the Data Source and Methodology 2007 Report.
